• Ground Cherries are a sweet fruit that grow like a tomato and have a papery husk like a Tomatillo. The fruit is similar in size and shape to a cherry tomato, and they also have the texture of a tomato. Many say Ground Cherries taste like a strawberry although others have compared their taste to citrus fruits or a tomato & pineapple combined. They are native to Central & South America, and are easy to grow being tolerant of poor soils. These plants also make an excellent choice for container gardens.
