The 1x30 angle guide takes the guess-work out of finding and keeping the right angle in the sharpening process. It is intended for use with standard 1" sharpening belts and is not intended for use with the leather belts. It simply attaches to the platen behind the belt and you can choose whatever angle you like for sharpening. Then just rest the tool on the guide and start the belt until you have raised a burr. Be careful not to overheat the metal and keep a tray of water nearby for cooling. The angle guide is perfect for anyone wanting to customize sharpening. Different tools benefit from being sharpened at different angles, and it can also be nice to have duplicates of the same tools with different angles for different functions.
