Germander (Teucrium chamaedris) - This perennial herb can be grown directly from Germander seeds! It is a wonderful addition for the herb garden, making the perfect border plan as it only reaches 18 inches in height. It can be trimmed like a hedge. Germander, or also called Wall Germander, has a history of medicinal uses and is used in the manufacture of liqueurs, vermouths, and tonic wines. Its most frequent use is as a small evergreen ornamental hedge in formal herb gardens. Germander herb will grow in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained, and it requires little water to keep green. Germander produces lovely violet colored blooms in the summer and continues for weeks of color. The blooms attract both bees and butterflies. The stems and flowers can be cut, dried and used to make wreaths and dried arrangements.
