Historical Review About Skin Bleaching:

The bleaching properties of Hydroquinone were accidentally discovered in the USA during World War II.  Tanners wearing rubber gloves complained about having discolored areas on hands and forearms.   After all the possible pathological hypothesis were eliminated, a study of every chemical element involved incriminated an intermediary agent used in rubber synthesis: hydroquinone.

The idea of making this molecule to voluntarily lighten the pigment of the skin was quickly picked up as at that time, the only skin lightening  products were dangerous mercurial peroxygenated derivatives.

Further research determined the maximum dosage above which the effect is irreversible. Furthermore, irritation and sensitization appeared.  Hydroquinone usage level was thus limited to 5% & then to 2% in France. Today Hydroquinone is considered as carcinogenic (cancer causing) and a legal procedure was implemented to prohibit its use in cosmetics at the European level.

To summarize the importance of this new cosmetic active: Wildberry Extract - in contrast to presently available products - not only inhibits the progress of skin darkening, it also effectively reduces existing pigmentation.

The primary mechanism of action involved here is tyrosinase inhibition.  However, this effect is further supported by a second level of functionality: Wildberry Extract also has the capacity to naturally degrade existing skin melanin with exceptional efficacy.  A number of  associated enzyme systems participating in the melanogenetic pathway are believed to be affected by specific actives in Wild berry Extract's proprietary formulation.  Thus, this novel two-tiered approach results in more "preemptive" and longer term skin tone lightening and color evening-out than is possible from conventional skin lighteners.  Significantly, preliminary data from ongoing human clinical trials over a three month period solidly substantiate these claims.

Skin Bleaching Extract is a gentle bleaching agent to help lighten the skin from hyper pigmentation due to sun exposure, liver spots and age spots. This product should be used with an SPF 25 sun protection to avoid hyper pigmentation and for optimum product function.

Active Ingredients: 2% Hydroquinone, 2% Kojic Acid and 10% Wild berry Extract (a natural hydroquinone).

Directions for use: Use on clean skin twice a day AM & PM. Apply 1-2 drops to pigmented area, allow to dry and then apply moisturizer and sunscreen SPF 25.
