How does Epidermx II work with acne?
The original developer of Epidermx made this product for her daughter, a model in New York City over 5 years ago! The surprise came when her own hormonal acne, and the other kids adolescent acne, cleared! Their Dad is a MD and Grandpa is a Dermatologist - nothing they had prescribed worked as well as mom's product! There have been 5 years of scientific advances, and it was important to her to incorporate those into her product. Even Epidermx deserves a face lift! Although there are many types of acneic conditions, the most common occurrence is from clogged pores. Epidermx II is very effective at removing surface debris which opens clogged pores. This allows both the impacted debris to be removed, and oxygen to enter into the pore. Most bacteria that cause acne are anaerobic bacteria - they thrive in oxygen starved areas. What are Silicones?
The skin is a living organ. Some of its functions include protection, sensation, fluid regulation, and the elimination of wastes and toxins. Most skin care products contain silicone-bases. Silicones are plastic-based polymers used as emollients and thickeners. There are hundreds; Dimethicone, Carbomer and Cyclopentasiloxane to name a few. Upon initial appearance the skin looks smooth, as the plastic-based polymers fill in the gaps of minor skin imperfections. The plastic coating acts like a plastic bag. This restricts nutrients from being absorbed and impairs the functions of the skin as an organ. The skin is fooled into thinking it is hydrated. At the cellular level a different picture emerges. The skin can no longer breathe. Unable to eliminate cellular wastes and toxins, these wastes and toxins are re-absorbed. The build-up increases stress, which causes cellular inflammation and cell damage. Cells become congested, dehydrated and bloated with waste that begins to stagnate. Damage to collagen and elastin occurs from cell damage, and the dermal layer collapses. Bacterial growth increases. The skin appears puffy, dull and dehydrated.

Do you know what is in your microdermabrasion product?
Anti-aging products are sophisticated blends of complex ingredients. It requires knowledge of how, when, and what ingredients to use. Combined at the wrong time, in an incorrect combination, or method, the ingredients will negate each other. The majority of Corundum Crystal on the market is made from Bauxite, an ore of Aluminum Oxide (Al O2) and far too soft to impact the skin. True Corundum Crystal is made by nature - infact, it is a sapphire! When it contains Chromium, it is a ruby. When properly mined and fused at over 2000'C - Corundum Crystal is an inert, insoluble compound. It is used in the US to remove surface dental cavities! Corundum Crystal has a natural blocky, hexagonal shape; this attribute, along with its natural hardness which on the MoHS scale is surpassed only by the diamond, make it the perfect compound for microdermabrasion. A professor from MIT, Richard Wachsman, PhD, explained years ago to the developer of Epidermx^TM that Corundum is a natural crystal. Like all crystals it contains inclusion pockets, that in turn on the molecular level contain molecules of H+ and O2. When you put Epidermx II^TM on your face - the H+ and O2 molecules in the water and the crystals create a magnetic state. They vibrate and help the skin to flatten. This information is often copied, now you know where it comes from! Infact, for this reason NaturDerm^TM recommends a misting of the face with bottled water before using all products to maximize the scientific properties of the ingredients at the molecular level.

What does hydrophilic balanced mean?
Simply put - it allows the product to pick up more debris. Each NaturDerm^TM product has its own hydrophilic balanced signature. Hydrophilic compounds, like humectants, attract water and are hydrated. Powerful molecular forces of attraction, hydrophilic properties cause surface tension. NaturDerm^TM products are formulated to lower the surface tension on the skin, which allows for maximum product performance.

Manual microdermabrasion creams like Epidermx II^TM took the US skin care market to a new level. We are now seeing it enter into the global markets. Only 2 preservatives pass global approval for product stability and product preservation, Methyl and Propyl Parabens. We prefer preservative free products; however, the super bugs of today, SARS, and Avian Flu have forever changed the view of individual countries and the requirements they put in place to protect consumers. Japan, and a growing number of countries require a minimum of 0.05% Methyl and Propyl Parabens in all skin care products for entry. At 0.05% there is no sub-dermal penetration, nor is label listing required.

Preservatives are a common factor between all products. Phenoxyethanol and Iodo Butylcarbamate (Diazolidinyl Urea/DMDMH) are severe irritants with a high level of allergic response. Hydroxymethylglycinates can react with essential oils, and can break down into formaldehyde. Behentrimonium Methylsulfate is an ammonia-based preservative and irritant. These preservatives are neutralizers,and are used in higher amounts negating the effects of acid-based anti-aging ingredients. NaturDerm^TM lists all ingredients. NaturDerm^TM uses 0.05% tree-bark derived Methyl/Propyl Parabens. NaturDerm^TM does not use petrochemical derived Parabens, or excess preservatives.
